Alan Wake (2010) is a survival horror game much like the Silent Hill series and dwells in the psychological thriller genre. Alan Wake is a successful novel writer and is in search of this missing wife who dissappered while on vacation in a town calle Bright Falls. The real problem starts when he experiences blackouts and visions of characters and ideas from his latest novel which he can not remember writing. The core gameplay feature of Alan Wake consists of “fighting with light”. Alan Wake is the studio’s first release since Max Payne 2, and took over five years to create; an unusually long development time in the gaming industry. It received positive reviews from critics, and is often revered for its narrative, pacing, and atmosphere. Alan Wake has been awarded the first spot in Time magazine’s list of the top 10 video games of 2010.

 

8. The Saboteur

The Saboteur is an open world adventure video game set during World War II in German-occupied France. It was published by EA in 2009. It is the 1st game in which a strategically Nazi war is depicted. And the most interesting thing is that it is also related to car racing. So, you can actually race to your heart’s content in the middle of a war situation. This title failed to cath the they of the masses and got a middle-of-the-road rating by gaming sites but it really hass quite an awesome  game play. It s placed on number 8 in the Top 10 Xbox 360 games list. This is a  title which will definitely entertain you . In the first week of its release,  EA sold 1 million copies which is not a big response from buyers but within a year  4.5 million copies of  The Saboteur had been sold which shows its popularity and liking by the gaming community.

 

7. Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption is probably the best open world western video game available on Xbox 360. It was relesed by Rockstar Games in  2010. It is an accurate follow up of its precedor (Red Dead Revolver). Most of the story takes place in the year 1911, during the decline of the American Old Wild West. We follow John Marston, a former outlaw, while he sets out to hunt down his former gang members. Marston’s wife and son are taken hostage by the government in ransom for his services as a bounty hunter. Having no other choice, he sets out to bring his three former gang members to justice. Upon its release, Red Dead Redemption was met with high critical acclaim and was one of the highest rated video games ever for the console. It won several “Game of the Year” awards. Reviewers praised the visuals, music, open world format and the story. As of August 2011, Red Dead Redemption has sold over 11 million total copies. It is the second Adventure and action game which got 9.5 rating by Game spot.

 

6. Assassin’s Creed II

Assassin’s Creed II  is the second chapter of the series and basically is a third-person action adventure game made by Ubisoft. It is a continuation of the ‘07 video game Assassin’s Creed. The game was released for video game consoles in November 2009. Assassin’s Creed II was met with widespread acclaim, garnering aggregated scores of 91% for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and stands 6th in the Top 10 games list. The game was praised for its stronger emphasis on open-world exploration and interaction, non-linear game play and greater mission variety compared to the first Assassin’s Creed. The game was also credited with improved non-player character AI and combat mechanics, and its new economic system allowing players to purchase accessories, armor, and improved weapons through the course of the game. Within 24 hours of going on sale, Assassin’s Creed II sold more than 5 million copies, 4.6 million in the U.S. and 1.2 million in the UK.

It is the third in the series to be developed by Treyarch, and is a sequel to the developer’s Call of Duty World at War. Within 24 hours of going on sale, the game sold more than 7 million copies, 5.6 million in the U.S. and 1.4 million in the UK, breaking the record set by its predecessor Modern Warfare 2 by some 2.5 million copies. A subtitled version was released in Japan on November 18, 2010. A Japanese-dubbed version was released on December 16, 2010. After six weeks on release, Activision reported Call of Duty: Black Ops had earned $1 billion in sales. This Game got 9.2 rating By Gamespot.

Far Cry 2 is an open world first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft and is also known as FC2. Ubisoft did not make any claims but used certain tactics to make an impression that Far Cry 2 was infact the second second installment in the series, however the sequel had very few perceptible likenesses to the original game. Instead of continuing on with the story, FC2 featured completely new characters and settings, as well as a new style of gameplay that allows the player greater freedom to explore different African landscapes such as deserts, jungles, and savannas. It is the second episode of the Gears of War series. The game picks up right from where it ended in the previous installment and expands technically on the previous game by using a heavily modified Unreal Engine 3 engine. The development team also brought in comic book writer to help write the plot for the game. In Gears of War 2, the COG continues its fight against the Locust horde, who are attempting to overrun the planet Sera. Sergeant Marcus Fenix leads Delta Squad into the depths of the planet to try to stop the Locust during the assault upon Locust territory. On its release weekend, Gears of War 2 sold over two million copies, and within two months of release, had sold four million copies. It was the seventh bestselling video game of 2009 and received several accolades.

Second in the Top 10 Xbox 360 games list  is Grand Theft Auto IV by the Rockstar Group. The game differs in its settings from the rest of the titles of the Grand Theft Auto series, starting the fourth age bracket in the continuing sandbox adventure game series, and is set in Liberty City, a fictional city based heavily on modern day New York City. As the first game of the critically acclaimed series to appear on seventh generation consoles, Grand Theft Auto IV was widely anticipated. A major commercial and critical success, it broke industry records with sales of around 3.7 million units on its first day of release and grossing more than $500 million in revenue in the first week, selling an estimated 6 million units worldwide.  As of March 2011, Grand Theft Auto IV had sold over 20 million copies. This game got a 10 rating in the box office.

Gears of War is a shooter video game released  by the makers of Borderlands and Batman: Arkham Asylum . It was initially thought to be only an Xbox 360 title. It also included a  book which explained the background of the game so that gamers would not have figure out the history of the game and start blasting the evil Locusts right from the word go!  The easy with which one can just slip in the game and play it like a pro in a short time has really made gamers love this series. This does not mean that the levels are easy. Later on, users were a bit dejected when GOW came out on the Pc format boasting of new levels and mutiplayer modes. Gears of War sold over three million copies in just ten weeks and was the fastest-selling video game of 2006. It also got the privilege of being the second-most played game over Xbox Live during 2007. The game has since sold over five million copies by September 2008 and rightfully owns the number one spot in the Top 10 Xbox 360 games list.
